About Me

Ken Tye is Professor Emeritus in Education at Chapman University. Before retiring from Chapman, he taught graduate comparative education, curriculum, and leadership classes; was Chair of the Education Department and was Assistant Provost for International Programs for the University. After retiring, he continued to teach part-time and performed other tasks for the College of Educational Studies, including helping to organize international experiences for faculty and students. 

Prior to coming to Chapman, Ken spent 14 years as Program Officer for a research center affiliated with UCLA. Earlier, he was a social studies teacher and school principal. 

Ken’s BA degree was from San Francisco State, his MA degree from San Diego State, and his EdD from UCLA with a cognate in political science. He attended Yale for an NDEA Institute in African History and Ethnology. He has had short and long-term positions in Germany, Liberia, Norway, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Arab Emirates and well as consultancies and speaking engagements in South Korea, the Netherlands, Italy, and Russia.

Ken has over 70 publications to his credit, including five books. In 2011, he was given the Global Education Scholar of the Year Award by the National Council for the Social Studies.
